How-to Calculate Your Diet Plan
The first step to getting a diet plan in place is to figure out how much your goal weight is and your activity level. My activity level is mostly sedentary unless I get out of the house and go to the gym... I log any exercise (including house work) and the calories I burn if I am particularly active one day so that my calorie intake can go up. If you walk a lot during the day and keep yourself busy with non-strenuous housework your activity level would be light. Strenuous housework and constantly walking throughout the day would be a moderate activity level. Here is a calculator to determine the number of calories you burn with your daily activities.
With my goal weight and the amount of pounds I want to loose per week, my diet is for 1200 calories a day. Here is a good calculator to use to determine your calorie intake. Next you need to figure out your daily goal for carbs, proteins, fats, etc.
Of the 1200 calories I have each day, these are the nutrient percentages I shoot for:
Carbohydrates: 13.75% ex. 165 g
Fat: 3.33% ex. 40 g
Protein: 3.75% ex. 45 g
Sugar: 2% ex. 24 g
Sodium: ex. 2500 mg
If you have health issues I would consult your doctor and have them help you determine your calorie intake and goals for your daily nutrients.
I hope this helps you get your diet plan into action! Don't forget to log you food and activities as well as your water intake and weight each day so you can track you success. Happy dieting!
