DIY Tissue Paper Ruffles Photo Frame

In my search to find girly, shabby chic picture frames to hang in my girls nursery, I found none that fit the bill and where affordable so I decided to make my own! Where better to start looking for supplies than Dollar Tree? My goal was to make a bunch of frames that are each different but that would all hang together on a wall. Here are the basic supplies you will need:

Piece of paper to make a stencil
Foam board in white
Razor blade or box cutter
Scissors
Elmer's glue or a hot glue gun
Tissue paper cut into 2''-4'' squares

1. For the stencil: Fold a paper in quarters. With all the edges facing out and the fold at the bottom, left, draw the design you want your frame to look like. While the paper is unfolded measure how big you need your opening to be (depends on the size of your photo) and mark it. Fold the paper back up and cut out your design and your opening. When you are done, you should be able to unfold your paper and your design will be even on all 4 sides.

2. Place your stencil on your foam board and trace around the inside and outside. If your stencil won't stay in place, gently tape the corners down.

3. Use your scissors or razor blade to cut out the frame from the foam board.

4. When your finished it should look like this.

5. Take your tissue paper squares and bunch them in the middle to create a ruffled flower.

6. Use your glue to attach the tissue paper flowers all around your frame in a tight bunch. Continue this process until the entire frame is covered. Take scissors and trim the outside edges of the tissue paper flowers to create the shape of your photo frame.

Your done! Tape your photo inside the frame and use picture putty to attach to your wall!
